Maintenance
Why is dreadlock maintenance important?

Not just to freshen up your dreadlocks.
It helps your dreadlocks to grow straight and strong.

With maintenance I start with separating your dreads and make the sections clear again. Then I make sure all the new and loose hairs are going back into the right dreadlock so they can continue to grow strong. If this is not done for a long time the dread can get very thin and might eventually break.

I work my way down the whole dreadlock to work in any more loose hairs to tighten them up. Most lumps and bumps can be straightened out and strengthened.

Maintenance after your first creation is the most important one and is about 6 weeks after first creation. This session usually takes a bit longer then regular maintenance sessions as I will take out the threads that were put in to make the sections in the start and I go over the whole dreadlocks again to tighten them up. What you can do to help the matting process: PALM ROLL your dreads after every wash.

How often should you have maintenance? This is very different for every person. some people want them tidy all the time because of work, family etc. and come for maintenance every 2 to 3 months. Others come every 6 months. I do not recommend waiting for a year as there might be damage to the dreads, you will be sitting in the chair for a longer period of time and it will cost more for the session.

Do you have a sensitive scalp, skin conditions or you don't want your dreads to be super tight? Just let me know in advance so we can both work on a more pleasant experience.
